SHENTIE TOURNAMENT – 30th September 2017

 

A Shentie tournament will be held on Saturday 30th September at Heston Community Sports Hall, TW5 0QZ.  Starting time will be 12:30 until 16:30.

The tournament will include Kata and Competition Sparring.  Entry fee for Kata £10 and Competition sparing £12

 

All students and all grades are welcome.  Further information will follow. Please speak to your Instructor if you are interested.  

 

 

SHENTIE PHOTO SHOOT

Sunday 2nd July at Spelthorne Leisure Centre at 08:45

 

We are in the process at looking at a new website and would like some really good photos of our super students and Instructors for this new website and at the moment for our current website

 

We would like as many students to come along and participate in some action shots and some fun shots.  This will also incorporate training and will be dependent on weather.  

 

Please come along in full uniform and also wear trainers and bring some water with you it can be thirsty work being a

‘Shentie Super Star!!’

 

 

 

WEAPONS & MIXED STYLE SEMINAR

24th June 2017

 

A weapons and mixed style seminar will be held on the 24th June at Heston Community Sports Centre from 13:00 to 17:15. Among others things there will be Spear/Bo Staff, Broadsword & Nunchaku.

 

There will also be guest instructors from Shentie, Shorinji Kempo and Freestyle Functional Jiu Jitsu.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

From 13:00 to 15:0 will be all ages and from 15:15 to 17:15 it will be adults only

 

 

SPECTATORS WHILE TRAINING IS IN PROGRESS

 

Due to some Students being distracted when training it has been decided that as from the 1st June there will be no spectators in the hall while training is in progress.  

 

Parents may come in and watch training the week before every half term to enable them to see how their child is progressing.  Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

 

 

TWO NEW CLASSES

 

On the 18th May a new KATA class started at Staines this class will be held every Thursday at 19:00

 

For the month of June a new Fitness & Conditioning class will take place on Sundays at Heston from

12:00 to 13:00.  

This class is for current Junior Shentie Students.

 

 

GRADINGS - SATURDAY 20th MAY

 

Gradings are being held on Saturday 20th May at Heston Community Sports Centre, Heston Road, TW5 0QZ.  A class will be held at 11:00 to 12:00 before the Grading starts at 13:00 for any of those students that would like a warm up or late practice before they take their grading.  

 

Grading forms must be handed in by no later than 10th May.

 

Students please note that full uniform including belt (if awarded) and approved protective equipment MUST be worn whilst grading.  Please ensure that no jewellery is worn.  The shop will be open on the day of the Grading to purchase equipment

 

Due to the Gradings there will be no classes taking place at Sunbury or Maida Vale on that date.

SHENTIE GRADINGS DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

 

We are pleased to announce that Gradings will be taking place at Heston Community Sports Hall on Saturday 20th May and Saturday 11th November.

CLASSES CLOSED OVER EASTER  – April 2017

 

All classes will be closed on Good Friday, Saturday 15th,

Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.  

Class as normal from Tuesday 18th April.

 

 

CHANGE OF STARTING TIME AT HESTON

SUNDAY CLASS - April 2nd

 

As from Sunday 2nd April the Heston Sunday class will

start at 11:00 and not 10:30 as before.

 

We hope this has not inconvenienced any student or parent.

 

 

NEW ADVANCED TRAINING CLASS

 

We are planning to start a advanced training class that would be held on one Thursday every month.

CLASS CLOSURE - WEDNESDAY FELTHAM CLASS

 

Due to work commitments Instructor Paul will no longer

be able to take the Wednesday evening Feltham class so

this will be closing down indefinitely and also the Thursday evening class at Heston. Instructor Paul is planning to open another Shentie class in Basingstoke.

 

All our other classes will be operating as normal.

 

 We are sorry if this has inconvenienced any students and ask                        you to have a look at our ‘Venues’ page for alternative days, times and locations of other classes that may be suitable for you.

 

 

JSKA & WMO EVENTS

After having previously won the British and European titles, we are thrilled to announce that Piers Cramp has today won the WMO World Kata Championships in Spain.

We are delighted to announce that Hannah Mercer qualified in 3rd place at the WMO Karate championships in Bulgaria! We couldn't be prouder

 

 

HAVE YOU COMPLETED YOUR GRADING FORM!!

 

Gradings are only 3 weeks away please make sure that if you are taking part you have completed your form and handed to your Instructor.  

 

If not, please make sure this is done as soon as possible to avoid the disappointment of not being able to Grade. 

 

Also ensure that  the form is completed correctly with name as  you wish it to be seen on certificate, membership number and expiry date.

 

 

PIERS CRAMP - WMO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

Wishing the best of luck to our student Piers Cramp as he heads out to Spain for the WMO World Championships! We will keep you all updated with any progress.  Also Hannah Mercer who is attrending the WMO Championships in Bulgaria

 

 

GRADING - 29TH OCTOBER 2016

 

Gradings are being held at Staines, Spelthorne Leisure Centre, TW18 1AJ.  Gradings will start promptly at 13:00 please make sure you arrive on time.  

 

We do have a class running from 12:00 to 13:00 in case you want some extra practice.

 

Students please note that full uniform including belt (if awarded) and approved protective equipment MUST be worn whilst grading.  Please also ensure that no jewellery is worn and finger nails are clean and kept short.

 

All those taking place must have an up-to-date insurance or they will not be able to Grade

EXTERNAL TOURNAMENT - 26TH NOVEMBER

 

The 26th November 2016 has now been confirmed as the date for the external tournament being held at Guildford.  If you are interested please let Master Lee know.

CONGRATULATIONS TO PIERS CRAMP

 

Piers Cramp was awarded the Jack Petchey award for his services to MTV Youth which is a local youth project run by the community for the community. Their aim is to guide and support young people in Hampton in the physical, mental and emotional development.

 

 

 

 

 

Well done Piers for all your hard work you should be very proud as we are very proud of you.

WEAPONS & MIXED STYLE SEMINAR

Saturday 25th June

 

Due to classes at Sunbury and Heston not finishing until 12:00 it will be acceptable if those students wishing to attend the seminar arrive a little late.

 

The first two hours will be Weapons Form for all ages and then the second two hours will be for adults only and this will be Defence and Application being taught by Kung Fu, Jiu Jitsu and Shorinji Kempo Master Grade Instructors.

NEW KATA & FORM CLASS

 

Due to the high demand of students wishing to practice KATA and Form we now have a exciting new class started at Heston dedicated purely to KATA and Form.

 

Classes are held at Heston and start at 19:00 finishing at 20:00.
